In 1895, Rand, McNally and Co. published this map of Washington, D.C., as part of their Indexed Atlas of the World. The map showcases transportation routes for railroad lines, horse-drawn streetcar lines, cable car lines, carriage routes, and electric car lines. Printed in color, it also labels local neighborhoods and landmarks. North is oriented toward the upper left corner, and the city’s four quadrants are marked.
